Vietnam wins most prizes at photo contest

The 6th International Artistic Photo Contest concluded on Wednesday with most prizes going to Vietnamese contestants.

The 6th International Artistic Photo Contest held in Vietnam concluded on Wednesday with most prizes going to Vietnamese contestants.

Launched by the Vietnam Artistic Photographers Association (VAPA) under the sponsor of France – based International Artistic Photography Federation (FIAP), the contest this year received the highest number of participants with over 10.000 entries by 1602 artists from 55 countries.

Works by local photographers accounted for a large chunk, 8.045 photos.In the color category, “The Trio” by Vietnamese photographer Ha Van Dong won the VAPA Gold Medal while “Rising planet-10” by Ukrainian photographer Mikhail Bondar won the FIAP Gold Medal.

In the monochrome category, “Three H’Mong Sisters” by Tran Thiet Dung and “The Past of a Dynasty” by Nguyen Quang Tuan from Vietnam won the gold medals of VAPA and FIAP respectively.

In the “Vietnam- images through international eyes” category aimed at foreigners who visit Vietnam and take pictures of the country, Vietnamese – French Tran Huu Tri won the first prize with his work titled “International Kite Festival in Vung Tau”.

Chairman of the VAPA Vu Quoc Khanh said the event was designed to help Vietnamese photographers improve their skills, especially in taking professional art photos, as well as increase interaction with international counterparts.

The award ceremony and exhibition showcasing winning works will be held in early December in Hanoi.
