Vietnam will take concrete measures to lower its rate of poor family below 5% and increase the percentage of households meeting cultural standards to over 90% by 2020, according to the Strategy for Family Development 2011-2020.
According to the strategy drafted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, by 2020, over 90% of families in Vietnam will be free from domestic violence and social evils; over 95% guarantee good care of their elders, women and children; and over 98% have school-age children going to school.
Vietnam will also reduce the percentage of households living in makeshift houses to below 3%.
Over 85% of families nationwide will have access to healthcare, cultural and educational services, and more than 90% of households will use clean water.
Also by the year, over 80% of Vietnamese youths will undergo training about marriage and family-related issues before their marriage, and over 65% of families will report no child marriages.
To realize the targets, the ministry will focus on raising the public awareness about population and family issues.
