Following the recent trend of making movies on sensitive topics, “Hotboy noi loan” (Rebel Hot Boy) by Vu Ngoc Dang, scheduled for release in October, will be about homosexuality and male prostitution.

This BHD Corporation production has already come under the notice of netizens.

Bui Thac Chuyen, who is renowned for his drama “Living In Fear,” is making his first horror movie, “Loi nguyen huyet ngai” (The Curse of the Bloody Love), which revolves around the mysterious story of a girl who lives between the human and spirit worlds.

“Giua hai the gioi” (Between the Two Worlds) by Vu Thai Hoa, another BHD film, is also a horror film.

It is about the obsession of a young girl living with a mentally challenged husband and her trouble with spirits.

In the action category, Thien Ngan presents “Long Ruoi” (Long Fly), a movie by Charlie Nguyen, the director of The Rebel.

It will hit screens on August 28.

Producers are suddenly keen about adapting books, especially by renowned writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu.

Sai Gon Media is planning to make “Nuoc nhu nuoc mat” (Water that Looks Like Tears), an adaptation from her novel of the same name, while state-owned studio Vietnam Film has bought the rights to her “Khoi troi long lay” (Splendid Smoke).

Saiga Film and director Victor Vu plan to make a film based on Bui Anh Tan’s “Buc huyet thu” (The Bloody Letter), a book about Vietnamese national hero Nguyen Trai.
