The 17th Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships opened in the northern province of Hai Duong on June 22.
The five-day event, held in Vietnam for the first time, has drawn 119 players from nine Southeast Asian countries including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, the Philippines and 19 from the host country.
The players are competing for seven sets of medals in under-15 and under-18 categories.
The General Secretary of the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, Le Truyen, said the competition is a good opportunity for regional athletes to improve their professional skills.
