Vietnam Airlines makes unplanned stop to save passenger

A Vietnam Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Hanoi had to make an emergency landing in Romania to rescue a passenger on September 29.

A Vietnam Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Hanoi had to make an emergency landing in Romania to rescue a passenger on September 29.

According to Vietnam Airlines, about two hours after took off, a 22-year-old Korean passenger started to experience difficulty breathing. The crew called for medical assistance from anyone on board qualified to give first aid.

After preliminary care on board, the passenger continued to breathe with difficulty. The captain then asked for permission to make an emergency landing in Bucharest, Romania.

After landing, the crew cooperated with Romanian authorities to get the man to hospital for treatment and handle the passengers luggage.

The man is in stable condition, but remains in Romania for observation and treatment.
