Construction on Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s Terminal 3 is scheduled to kick off in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Problems concerning the handover of military land for the terminal project have been settled and the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is making preparations to start construction in the fourth quarter.

Once completed in 2024, the terminal is expected to help raise the airport’s total capacity to 50 million passengers annually.

Initially, the work on the terminal project was planned to be started in December 2021. However, issues involved in the handover of military land slowed the pace.

The VND11 trillion (USD474.13 million) terminal cost is sourced from ACV’s own capital, not the state budget.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh previously told the Ministry of Defence to work with relevant parties to hand over 16.05ha of land under its management for the Terminal 3 project and another 11.89ha for the building of a road linking nearby Tran Quoc Hoan and Cong Hoa roads in Tan Binh District.
