The U.S. Emabassy has announced plans to conduct a summer camp for disadvantaged students in Cat Ba, Hai Phong.
The camp will run from August 13 - 16 bringing together 16 participants from the English Access Micro-scholarship Program.
The camp will feature English teachers in Vietnam on the Fulbright Program, NGO leaders and Vietnamese university students who have previously participated in U.S. Government sponsored exchange programs.
The 16 students are all disadvantaged, yet talented lower secondary students from the outskirts of Hanoi.
According to organizers, “The program provides participants the opportunity to gain an appreciation for U.S. culture and democratic values, increases their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and improves their chances of participating in U.S. educational and exchange programs in the future.”
