“Goethe!” depicts the life and love of the great German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe when he was young

A selection of the latest and most successful films from Germany will be shown in Hanoi, Haiphong, Hue, Danang, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho, from September 16 to October 17.

This year’s German Film Festival will offer a selection of highlights from renowned directors and surprise successes by young filmmakers.

The opening film, Almanya – Welcome to Germany, marked the cinematic debut of sisters Yasemin and Nesrin Samdereli and had theatres at the Berlin Film Festival rocking with laughter.

The festival will also include the historically set biopic Goethe! by Philipp Stölzl.

Two captivating documentaries Autumn Gold and Neukölln Unlimited let the spectators cheer on real life protagonists, while sentimental tragicomedies such as Run, If You Can and Close To You are sure to prove popular. Crocodiles 2, film adventure for the whole family is also part of the programme.
