A sudden explosion at a power substation in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District killed one and injured four others.
The accident occurred on the afternoon of November 17 on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. Initially, all of the five victims, including the couple Vu Dinh Thai and his wife Nguyen Thi Hanh, suffered from burns and were sent to the National Hospital of Burns for the treatment.

However, due to the serious injuries, Thai, 63 years old, died the following day, while his wife and another local Dinh Ngoc Long remained in critical condition.
A representative from the hospital said that intense treatment is being provided to the two patients, but, it is impossible to say they would survive or not.
Witnesses said that right after the incident, many people used small extinguishers to put out the fire before the fire engines came.
An oil leakage from the substation is suspected to cause the fire and explosion. Authorities are conducting an investigation for the case.
