The northern region of Vietnam has been forecasted to experience heavy rains in the days to come following a scorching heatwave.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the rainy weather would start in the north from Tuesday evening to Thursday. Strong winds, thunder and lightning have been predicted.

Warnings of flash floods and landslides have been raised for northern mountainous areas or those located by rivers.

On June 21-22, the north would continue struggling the hot weather with the temperature in many areas reaching up to 40 degrees centigrade.

Meanwhile, the central region would witness drought in the coming days, including areas from Quang Tri to Ninh Thuan provinces.

The Central Highlands and southern regions would see rains in the evening on June 21-25. The water level in regional rivers would not change much.
