Rain is set to mainly affect the north from late afternoon to midnight on Monday and Tuesday with a rainfall of 30-120mm per hour. Midland and mountainous areas would be the hardest hit.

Strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning and hail would occur during rain. Warnings of severe flooding and landslides have also been issued for northern mountainous areas.

Hanoi would see rain with thunderstorms, lightning and hail until June 11.

This morning, June 6, many streets in Hanoi suffered traffic congestion due to a long heavy rain.

Earlier, downpours in Hanoi on May 29 broke the city’s 1986 rainfall record by around 6 mm.

Rain submerged over 30 streets in Hanoi, with parts up to 60-70 cm deep, paralysing traffic.
