
The department said that the number of Chinese visitors to the country has been rising since the beginning of this year, particularly at weekends.
"They are mostly arriving in tour groups and stay for a short time in Vietnam," the department said. Mong Cai City has recently developed four tours to 15 local destinations to serve the increasing number of visitors.
Local authorities have also upgraded 14 markets and four shopping centres due to the recent high shopping.
At present, the city is home to over 200 hotels and guesthouses with over 3,000 rooms including. Mong Cai and Dongxing international border gates officially resumed customs clearance procedures for tourists in March last year following the Covid-19 hiatus.
Quang Ninh authorities have allowed private cars to and from Vietnam through the gate as part of a pilot programme that will last until September 2026.
