Authorities in Tan Hop Commune, Lao Cai Province, said on Tuesday evening that a landslide involving more than 10,000 cubic metres of soil and rock had struck the road to Goc Gao Hamlet, Tan Hop Commune, blocking traffic and leaving 37 households with more than 100 residents in the area completely cut off.

Local authorities said the incident had occurred on September 20 and was caused by heavy rain over several days.
Residents said the landslide had made travel extremely difficult. After the incident, local officials inspected the site, assessed the situation and drew up a response plan.

Authorities in Tan Hop Commune are mobilising personnel and equipment to clear the landslide site, restore traffic links and stabilise daily life and trade for residents in the area.
