The 6-minute clip shows a group of men killing a monkey and then eating its brain raw along with drinking alcohol.

The clip was then posted on a Facebook account by a person who was said to live in Huong Khe District, but it later was removed. However, some people saved the video.

Nguyen Hoang Hao, head of Huong Khe District’s forest ranger board, said that the agency are trying to identify the people in the clip. He added that the Facebook account of the suspect has been locked.

Hao said that the monkey might be from a rare strictly protected species.

A man in the northern province of Son La was recently summoned by the police after killing a wild monkey and posting the clip and photos on Facebook.

According to Lawyer Quach Thanh Luc from Hanoi Lawyers’ Association, the man could be fined from VND50-500 million (USD2,272-22,727).
