The water level of the Red River has risen, affecting people in An Duong Street, Tay Ho District.
By June 15 morning, the water level on the Red River was around six metres, causing flooding for areas by the river.

Alley 76 on An Duong Street has been put two metres under water. This meant local residents had to travel by boat.

Nguyen Van Binh, who has lived in the area for 20 years, said the area always flooded with heavy rain. However, the flooding has been more serious because of the water discharge from Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, forcing people to use boats.

Boats are regularly being used. Each boat can transport 5-7 motorbikes and 10 people. A trip by a person and motorbike is VND10-15,000.

It takes people 15-20 minutes to go through the flooded road which is around 200 metres long.

The flooding posed difficulties for people transporting farm produce.

Boats are also used to carry goods.

The flooding is so serious that many people can’t drive their motorbikes
