On some roads, including Giai Phong, Nguyen Trai, Belt Road 3, and Ho Tung Mau, traffic jams began from late afternoon of February 2.

Nguyen Trai Street started seeing congestion from 5 pm. Many students chose to drive their motorbikes home instead of catching buses as the weather was warm.

Serious traffic congestion of up to two kilometres occured on Giai Phong Street from 6 pm-7.30 pm.

A driver said that it took him almost an hour to travel one kilometre from Giap Bat Bus Station to Nuoc Ngam Bus Station.
