Hanoi air quality improves
The air quality index at 21 areas was good and average at 14 other areas. The air quality in Quang Phu Cau Commune was the best with an index of 14, followed by Bach Dang Ward and Tay Ho Tay residential area with an index of 16 and 17.
Various areas with poor air quality like Pham Van Dong, Hang Dau, and Thanh Cong have shown improvement.
However, Pham Hai Duong from Hanoi Environmental Protection Department said such improvement caused by good weather was only temporary.
Duong asked related departments and local authorities at all levels to have more strict measures to deal with the problem such as easing congestion, limiting personal vehicles and higher fines for construction sites that cause air pollution.
"When solutions are carried out simultaneously, the city's air quality will surely improve," Duong said.
