According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, 141,200 tourists came to Ha Giang at Tet, including 1,589 foreigners. During this time, the province earned VND350 billion (USD14.28 million) from tourism revenues.
The increase in visitors caused traffic congestion at tourist spots, including Ma Pi Leng Pass, Tham Ma Slope, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Quan Ba Heaven Gate.
A Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark representative stated that hotels and homestays in the area have been mostly booked.
The Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism previously instructed tourism service providers to ensure environmental hygiene and civilised behaviour to tourists.
The prices of all tourism services must be made public, to avoid overcharging tourists.
