
Four people are killed in a house fire which broke out at a house in HCM City on February 17.
According to a report from the district's People Committee, the fire broke out at a two-storey house in a small lane in Cach Mang Thang Tam Street at 3.45 am on February 17. Some local residents tried to put out the fire but it spread quickly to two adjacent houses with loud explosions.
"Firefighters were called but faced difficulties in rescue work as the house lay in a small lane," the committee said. "They managed to bring the fire under control after an hour. However, four people were found dead in the debris, and some motorbikes and lots of furniture were destroyed."
The four victims were identified as Nguyen Thi Hong Xuan, 46, Le Thi Hong Tuyet, 47, Tran Quoc Cuong, 38, and Le Hoang Dung, 56.
A resident living near the house said that there were seven people inside the house at the time of the fire but three of them who slept on the first floor managed to flee.
Police are further investigating the cause of the fire.
