According to a report by Lao Cai Provincial Police Department, the tragic accident occurred at 3.40 pm when a truck running from Lao Cai to Hanoi collided with two motorbikes running in the opposite direction.
The collision left four boys on the two motorbikes aged between 13-18 dead on the spot.
The boys had run in the wrong direction on the expressway, police said.
Lao Cai Police are further investigating the case.
