Tan Son Nhat Airport expects to serve nearly 151,000 passengers on February 16, the biggest daily figure reported during the 2024 Tet Lunar New Year holiday.

The airport expects to serve 964 flights with nearly 151,000 passengers including nearly 70,000 on domestic routes on February 16, the biggest daily figure reported during this Tet.

Due to the high demand, many passengers have faced difficulties finding flights to HCM City or have seen their flights delayed or cancelled.

A passenger, Nguyen Van Binh, said that he was unable to find a flight from Cat Bi Airport in Haiphong City to Tan Son Nhat between February 15-18.

"As of February 14, all the flights had been fully booked for those days and there are now only Business Class seats," Binh said.

Nguyen Van Phuong from Danang City complained that his family of four members had to wait at the airport as their flight was delayed by six hours.

To better serve passengers during this peak season, Tan Son Nhat Airport has coordinated closely with airlines to update flight schedules and prepare proper resources and equipment.

Since February 6, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam has started piloting cashless parking payments at the airport to save time.

The airport has also officially applied the A-CDM coordinated decision-making model which helps improve operational efficiency such as increasing the rate of on-time flight and minimising cases where aircraft stop and wait for a long time on taxiways.
