On the late nights of February 17-18 and early mornings of February 18-19, some flights to Vinh Airport had to be diverted to other airports, and many others had to fly in a holding position before visibility improved for their landing.
On Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, dense fog also reduced visibility at Vinh and Dong Hoi airports to between 300-350 metres. Seven flights to Vinh Airport had to land in Noi Bai and Danang instead while two others had to fly in a holding position until visibility improved.
At Dong Hoi Airport, many flights had their schedules changed due to the dense fog.
Dense fog often occurs in February and March in Hanoi and some other northern and northern central provinces, affecting flights.
