The first European contemporary dance festival is to be held in Vietnam on September 8 and 9 at the Youth Theatre in Hanoi.

The event is part of a cooperative project between the European Union National Institutes for Culture and Vietnam National Opera Ballet (VNOB). Artists from Wallonie-Brussels and Italy will perform their own creations, while a German choreographer will unveil his piece with Vietnamese dancers.
The festival will start off with a new work of the VNOB, named “Firefly’s Season”.
It will be followed by Belgium’s dancing team Dame de Pic / Karine Ponties with a creative piece, called "Benedetto Pacifico”.
The last performance at the festival will be “Death and the Maiden”, developed by German Choreographer Hans-Henning Paar and the VNOB. It is based on the music of Franz Schubert.
The organisers expect to turn the festival into an annual event in Vietnam in order to create a cultural exchange for artists from different countries to share their knowledge and experience.
