Historical documents and items about the history of Vietnam and its nine names have been on display at the exhibition in Hue to celebrate the National Day, September 2.
The exhibition, held by Hue Monument Conservation Centre and Vietnam National Archives Centre 1 and 4, is also part of the Golden Tourism Week in Hue.
Phan Thanh Hai, director of Hue Monument Conservation Centre said they had collected 18 pages of from the sets of the administrative documents and 18 woodblocks during the Nguyen Dynasty about Vietnam's names in history.
Depending on the political and social situation, the rulers changed the country name accordingly along with selecting a new capital for prosperity. Since the beginning until 1945, Vietnam had several different names including Xich Quy, Van Lang, Au Lac, Van Xuan, Dai Co Viet, Dai Viet, Dai Ngu, Dai Nam and Vietnam.
"Since the dawn of our country, we have faced various challenges and difficulties to stay with time and develop strongly until nowadays. We changed the country name and capital several times. Those changes were recorded in these documents," Hai said.
The exhibition is being held at the Imperial City until December 1.
