Passengers at Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City during Tet holiday.
The move came after the Ministry of Transport asked CAAV to work with airlines and give feedback to complaints from the media and public about the ratcheting up of flight prices and lack of flights during the Tet holiday.According to statistics from CAAV, during the Tet holiday period from February 8-14, local airlines served 1.50 million passengers, an increase of 11 percent compared to the same period last year.
Return ticket prices on domestic routes cost between VND4.50-10 million including taxes and fees during Tet.
Some airlines said that despite the fares being higher during the peak holiday season, the prices did not exceed ceiling prices as regulated by the government.
Airlines were asked to send their reports by February 26.
