Hanoi streets face overnight barriers during lighting works

Hanoi authorities will install temporary nighttime barriers on several major roads from May 30 to August 30 to facilitate a project upgrading the city’s lighting system.

According to the municipal Department of Construction, the works will be carried out along the Lang Ha-Le Van Luong and Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Chanh-Tran Duy Hung corridors.

Under the traffic plan, contractors will erect mobile barriers about 3.5 metres wide along left-side lanes near median strips and flyover sections to allow lifting equipment and construction vehicles to operate.

On the Lang Ha-Le Van Luong route, construction will be carried out in two phases covering both traffic directions beneath the Lang Ha-Le Van Luong overpass.

A similar two-phase arrangement will apply to the Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Chanh route, where decorative lighting systems will be upgraded along sections near the Hoang Minh Giam-Nguyen Chanh-Tran Duy Hung flyover.

Authorities said construction and traffic restrictions would only take place overnight from 10 pm to 5 am in an effort to minimise disruption during peak traffic hours.

Contractors have also been instructed to remove all construction vehicles and equipment from the roads before 5 a.m. each day to help reduce congestion risks.
