The forest in Mo Rai Commune in Sa Thay District is managed by Sa Thay Forest Management Ltd. Company.

Around 145 cubic metres of wood, including many valuable kinds, have been illegally logged and transported out of the forest.

There is only one road leading to the forest. The road travels through two to three forest protection stations, but the rangers claimed to have failed to detect violations.

Le Ngoc Tan, chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee, has ordered an investigation into the case.

In March, dozens of old trees in Kon Plong District’s Mang Den Town were also found illegally cut down.

Kon Tum has experienced a rash of illegal logging cases.
