Ten missing after cargo ship sinks off Thua Thien-Hue

A cargo ship has sunk off the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, leaving ten crew missing.

  

According to the initial information, at around 1 pm on Thursday, ship Thai Thuy 88 which transported coal faced engine stall in the province’s Chan May-Lang Co area which is some 40 nautical miles from the mainland. Around two hours later, it sunk.

The 10 crew got on a life raft and contacted Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre 2 for help.

The centre has co-operated with local authorities to deploy measures for the rescue.
