The risks of landslides and flash floods are threatening the entire Central Highlands region following heavy rains brought by Storm Soulik.

According to Dak Lak Province’s Meteorological and Hydrological Station, in the next 1-2 days, the locality would see more rain. The districts of Buon Don, Ea H'Leo, Cu Kuin, Lak, Krong Ana and Krong Bong would be at a high risk of flash floods and landslides.

Dak Lak authorities have prepared to relocate locals to safe places.

In Dak Nong Province, a landslide happened near Cui Cho Pass in Dak G’long District’s Quang Khe Commune, disrupting traffic on National Highway 28.

Lam Dong is home to around 500 vulnerable landslides and flash flood locations. Severe landslides have recently occurred in Da Lat and Bao Loc cities and the districts of Bao Loc, Dam Rong and Lam Ha.

Meanwhile, Kon Tum authorities have planned to evacuate residents in the districts of Dak Glei, Tu Mong Rong and Kon PLong. The province frequently experiences landslides during the annual rainy and stormy season.

The communes of Te Xang, Ngok Yeu and Tu Tho in Kon Tum’s Tu Mo Rong District have deployed staff to be on duty in landslide-prone areas.
