Dantri offers health insurance cards for disadvantaged Hanoi students

Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper co-operated with the Hanoi Blind Association to offer health insurance cards for students born to blind people in the area for the coming new school year.



Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper co-operated with the Hanoi Blind Association to offer health insurance cards for students born to blind people in the area for the coming new school year on August 30.

At the event, which was held at the headquarter of the Hanoi Blind Association on August 30, Dantri presented 167 health insurance cards to the disadvantaged children.

Speaking at the event, Dantri Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Xuan Toan sent his sincere thanks to organisations and individuals who have joined with the newspaper to carry out the Health Insurance Cards donation programme as well as many previous charity programmes.

"This is the third year we’ve organised this programme and this year we were joined by the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development," Toan said. "We're going to give over 1,500 health insurance cards to disadvantaged students in many localities for the 2024-2025 school year."

Attending the event, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dinh Hong Phong, said that this was a meaningful event that should be continued in the future years.

"We highly appreciate the value of this programme and want to send our sincere thanks to Dantri Newspaper, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and other donors for supporting the programme to give the cards to disadvantaged students," Phong said.

Speaking at the event, vice chairman of the Hanoi Blind Association, Hoang Manh Cuong, said that these health insurance cards will help protect the disadvantaged students in the new school year.

"With these cards, their families will be relieved from financial burdens if their children have health problems during the coming new school year," he said. "We want to send our big thanks to Dantri, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, and all the kind donors for your valuable support.

A mother, Nguyen Thi Thuy, took her eight-year-old daughter to receive a health insurance card at the event. Thuy said that her husband Le Van Thuong is blind and is struggling with brain cancer.

"We have two small children and now our family is living on an allowance of just VND2 million (USD80) a month," Thuy said. ""We can’t afford health insurance cards for our children so I'm very grateful for the support from Dantri and kind donors to us."
