The Binh Dinh People's Committee and the Indian General Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City held a conference on investment promotion, trade, and tourism development on Tuesday with Indian partners.

Speaking at the event, which saw the attendance of over 40 Indian businesses, Binh Dinh Party Committee Secretary Ho Quoc Dung said that the province strived to become a science, technology, artificial intelligence and innovation hub.

"We target a sustainable economic development based on the pillars of the manufacturing and processing industry, information technology industry, high-quality tourism, organic agriculture and effective logistics system, all of which are Indian strengths," he said.

Indian Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi said that many Indian businesses and investors were exploring the Vietnamese market to seek investment and co-operation opportunities. He added that his office was ready to support Vietnamese businesses in connecting with leading Indian corporations.

Attending the event, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Do Thanh Trung said that this was a meaningful event to show the advantages and potentials of Binh Dinh and seek measures to support investors from India.

Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, Pham Anh Tuan, said that the province had established a working group to support businesses in the early stages when they invest in the province.

At the conference, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation, while their associations and agencies also inked others on tourism and forestry.

India currently ranks 25th among 146 countries and territories in investment in Vietnam, with 407 projects and a total registered investment of over USD1 billion.

In the first five months of this year, Binh Dinh's export values were estimated at USD 736.90 million, up 19.60 percent on-year. Of that, the province's exports to India reached USD1.1 million, mainly cassava root and fruits, wood, wooden products, garments, machinery, equipment, and spare parts.
