Vietnam confirms over 5,000 more Covid-19 infections

Vietnam confirmed an additional 5,227 Covid-19 infections on Saturday according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 5,224 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 50 localities including HCM City (1,042), Dong Nai (679), Binh Duong (665), Bac Lieu (404), Kien Giang (298), An Giang (231), Tien Giang (223), Tay Ninh (203), Soc Trang (190), Dak Lak (146), and Long An (106). There were three imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 335 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,293 infections found in the community.

As of Saturday evening, 910,782 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (431,101), Binh Duong (232,386), Dong Nai (65,091), Long An (34,738), and Tien Giang (16,422). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 915,603. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On October 30, an additional 2,204 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 818,336.

On Saturday evening, a further 64 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,030. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (30), Binh Duong (13), Bac Lieu (5), Long An (4), Soc Trang (4), An Giang (3), Can Tho (1), Kien Giang (1), Tay Ninh (1), Tien Giang (1), and Ninh Thuan (1).

Vietnam today administered more than 1.58 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 80.52 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 23.91 million people having received two doses.
