Airlines in Vietnam have cancelled or delayed hundreds of flights on Saturday and Sunday as Storm Yagi makes landfall in the northern and northern central regions.

Noi Bai will temporarily suspend aircraft operations from 10 am to 9 pm on September 7.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has requested the closure of four airports, including Noi Bai (Hanoi), Cat Bi (Haiphong), Van Don (Quang Ninh), and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), during certain time frames on September 7 to avoid the storm's impact.

Specifically, Noi Bai will temporarily suspend aircraft operations from 10 am to 9 pm on September 7.

Meanwhile, Van Don will be temporarily closed from 4 am to 4 pm, Cat Bi from 5 am to 4 pm, and Tho Xuan Airport from 12 pm to 10 pm.

Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted to affect operations at Vinh, Dien Bien, and Dong Hoi airports.

Hundreds of flights to and from these airports have been cancelled or delayed today, including over 110 by Vietnam Airlines, nearly 90 by Vietjet Air, and 14 by Bamboo Airways.

Vietnam Airlines advised passengers on flights on September 7 and 8 to follow updated information on the airline's website or send it to passengers by message.

CAAV said Yagi may affect some 240 domestic and 70 international flights in the coming days.
