Speaking with Dantri, Chairman of Dak Song District People's Committee, Ngo Duc Trong, said that the tragic accident occurred at 1.20 am on the DH27 Road.
"The car's driver might have lost control and drove it into the canal," the official said. "There were five men in the car at that time and two of them managed to get out but they were unable to rescue the three others."
Initial investigation showed that it was early in the morning and there was no one on the road at that time. One of the survivors made a phone call to the police who arrived shortly after that. However, the three victims, Vo Ngoc Ha, 30, Dang Nguyen, 31, and Pham Hong Quan, 29, had died from injuries and drowning in the car.
Police are further investigating the case.
