Rice fields in My Luong Commune have been seriously flooded, so local farmers have to harvest early to reap what they can.

Le Thi Thanh from Khon Duy Village said that her family harvested only a small portion of the 3,600 square metres of rice they had grown.

The waterlogged rice is spread out on local roads. Even with strong sunlight, it still takes a long time to dry.

Most households must harvest by hand, and machines are used for minimally flooded areas only.

People in My Luong say this is the second worst flooding in the locality since 1971.

Thanh added that they would harvest rice in two or three weeks if it were the proper season.

Boats are used to carry rice.

The inundation affected around 2,793 hectares of rice and vegetables in Chuong My.
