Phu Quoc suffers severe flooding following heavy rain
Many areas in Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang have been seriously inundated after torrential rain.
Phu Quoc struggled with downpours from Monday evening to around 8 am this morning, September 17, affecting many areas in Cua Duong Commune and Duong Dong Ward.
Authorities helped evacuate many households in Duong Dong Ward.
Due to downpours and strong winds, all boats from Phu Quoc to other islands in Kien Giang have been suspended, leaving more than 100 tourists stranded.
Floodwater engulfed many houses in the middle of the night. People had to stay up all night yesterday to lift their belongings to keep them out of water.
The southern region of Vietnam has been forecasted to witness rain in some days.
