Hanoi-Jump for Jazz: “Bird Lives” Concert

Jump for Jazz aims to promote and support jazz and jazz musicians in Vietnam.

A series of concerts, entitled a Chronology of Jazz, will be held on every last Thursday of the month, starting Apr 25 2013, at the Dong Kinh Hall. The first concert in this series, Bird Lives a tribute to Charles Parker will take place in April in Hanoi.

Hanoi- A Night at the Opera – The Best of Verismo

A screening of the quintessential verismo operas: Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci. The opera will be screened in the original Italian with English subtitles.

Hanoi- Ukulele workshop

Two ukulele teachers from Australia will deliver a short course in the musical instrument.

The course caters for people who have played ukulele before but are not necessarily beyond the intermediate level.

Attendees are required to bring their own ukulele. The instrument is sold at some shops on Hao Nam and Hang Manh streets.

Films include the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance “Fishing Without Nets,” which tells the stories of Somalian pirates, as well as Lucy Luscombe’s U.K. film, “Candy Girl”, a story exploring the transition we make from idealistic childhood to the somewhat murky world of adolescence, and “The S from Hell,” a short documentary-cum-horror film about the scariest corporate symbol in history.

For local program, Future Shorts will showcase highlights from the 48 Hour Film Project 2012, including “Husbie, Open the Door,” directed by Le Binh Giang and REDone.
