The accident occurred at around 7.30 am on June 13 in My Tho Commune, where a six-member team from Truong Loc Telecommunications and Civil Construction Co. was dismantling an antenna tower under a local service contract.

According to preliminary information, two workers aged 32 and 34 were working at the top of the steel tower, cutting and removing structural sections. Three other workers on the ground were assisting with lowering the dismantled components.
About two hours into the operation, after roughly half of the tower had been dismantled, a section of the structure suddenly broke off and collapsed, causing both workers to fall from height.
The accident left one work with minor injuries, while the other later died in hospital.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
