The project to deal with household waste in Hue City and neighbouring areas has been invested by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment but has shown many shortcomings.
The project has an investment of VND47bn (USD2m). The first phase of the project was approved in June 2016 with a budget of VND23bn. The contractor is the Environmental Technology Transfer and Construction JSC. The construction was started in August 2017 and expected to complete in November 2019.
However, only 65% of the work has been completed. Construction has been halted for adjustment.
Many parts of the incomplete construction are temporarily covered up but in some places, cracks have appeared along with many other signs of deterioration.
Le Ba Phuc, deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, said they had checked and asked the contractor to take measures to deal with the damage when the project resumes.
