There have been no injuries to Vietnamese workers in Libya, according to the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

2,739 labourers have already been returned home from Libya

Ngan said that the total number of Vietnamese workers in Libya was 10,482. To date, 2,739 of them have already been returned home, 6,196 have been moved to more stable countries in the region. More than 1,000 are in the process of being evacuated, while 200 remain stuck in the country.

She also added that Vietnam had considered hiring military aircraft to transport the Vietnamese nationals stranded in Libya. But the turbulent situation of the country prevents any planes from landing in the capital, so Vietnam has leased commercial planes and used Vietnam Airlines\' planes. The remainder of the evacuees will be returned by ship.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will provide financial support to these workers on their return, each getting VND2 million (USD98). The ministry has also received donations, totalling VND8 billion (USD392,483), from two companies.

Labourers who are facing difficult circumstances will get the government\'s assistance in repayment of loans. They also may be given the option of working in other foreign countries.
