Vietnam National Administration of Tourism
With the theme “For Vietnamese Tourism to Really Take Off”, the summit will present an opportunity for enterprises and investors in Vietnam and abroad to look at strategies and the potential as well as challenges for tourism development in the context of Vietnam’s tourism experiencing a period of strong development with high growth.
The summit has three major goals: promoting sustainable development in Vietnam’s tourism sector, enhancing national tourism competitiveness, and increasing the sector’s direct contribution to GDP from 8.39 per cent in 2018 to over 10 per cent in 2021, according to the TAB.
It will also help promote the image and culture of Vietnam to the world, thus luring more foreign investment to the tourism sector and realizing a common aviation market called “ASEAN Open Sky”.
The summit will include four thematic sessions and a plenary session. Each session is expected to welcome 150-200 guests, who will discuss topics such as managing destinations and improving the quality of tourism services, strengthening tourism promotion and advertising, facilitating immigration procedures for international tourists, expanding aviation connectivity and accelerating infrastructure development, and improving the quality of tourism human resources.
Tourism promotion offices in the UK and Australia will also be launched.
The summit is expected to attract 2,000 guests, including officials and leaders of the tourism sector and other relevant ministries and representatives of the world’s largest tourism corporations, along with senior representatives from the World Tourism Organization and other international agencies.
The first Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit was held in Hanoi last year with the participation of 1,500 guests. Within the framework of the event, five trade deals worth nearly $2 billion were signed between international partners and domestic enterprises.
