On February 21, doctors from Military Hospital 103 and the Military Medical Academy coordinated to successfully carry out the lung transplant on Ly Chuong Binh, who was born in 2010.

The donors were Binh’s father and uncle, born in 1989 and 1987 respectively, who are living in Na Can hamlet, Bat Dai Son commune, Quan Ba district, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang.

The patient suffered from congenital bronchiectasis in two lungs with complications of respiratory failure, chronic heart failure, and malnutrition in the third degree.

After the surgery, the patient, whose vital signs are stable, is being monitored and receiving intensive treatment.

Meanwhile, the health conditions of the two donors are also stable.
