Vietnam reports rising number of new daily Covid-19 infections

Vietnam has continued to report a rise in the number of Covid-19 infections with 6,192 cases confirmed on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 6,175 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 58 localities including HCM City (985), Dong Nai (905), Binh Duong (773), Kien Giang (374), An Giang (312), Bac Lieu (290), Tay Ninh (272), Tien Giang (207), Soc Trang (193), Can Tho (152), Binh Thuan (136), Long An (119), and Ha Giang (118). There were 17 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 562 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 2,766 infections found in the community.

As of Wednesday evening, 934,583 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (434,736), Binh Duong (235,293), Dong Nai (68,199), Long An (35,182), and Tien Giang (17,216). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 939,463. The country now stands 40th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On November 3, an additional 8,869 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 833,675 .

On Wednesday evening, a further 78 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,283. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (40), Binh Duong (13), Can Tho (4), Dong Nai (4), Tien Giang (3), An Giang (3), Bac Lieu (2), Long An (2), Kien Giang (2), Ninh Thuan (2), Vinh Long (1), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1), and Binh Thuan (1).

Vietnam on November 2 administered more than 972,790 doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 84.09 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 25.64 million people having received two doses.
