Vietnam logs additional 609 Covid-19 new cases on Friday noon

An additional 609 Covid-19 infections were detected from 6 am to 12 pm on Friday with HCM City still the largest pandemic epicentre.

An additional 609 Covid-19 infections were detected from 6 am to 12 pm on Friday with HCM City still the largest pandemic epicentre.

According to the Ministry of Health, among the cases, six are from abroad.

Among 603 local infections, 480 were found in quarantined and sealed-off areas, while 123 are under epidemic investigation to identify infection sources.

HCM City has remained the largest pandemic hotspot with 479 cases. The runners up are Binh Duong (66), Dong Nai (17), Bac Giang (9), Tra Vinh (8), Bac Ninh (7), Quang Ngai (7), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (4), Ha Noi (2), Ha Tinh (3), Quang Nam (2), Kien Giang (1), Vinh Phuc (1), Bac Lieu (1), Lam Dong (1) and Thanh Hoa (1).

As of 12 pm on Friday, Vietnam had recorded 23,513 locally-transmitted Covid-19 patients and 1,906 from abroad.

Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Nam Dinh, Quan Nam and Lao Cai have gone through 14 days without detecting any new local infections.

The country has confirmed 105 Covid-19-related deaths, while 8,950 patients have been discharged from hospital.
