The HCM City People’s Committee has proposed two VND238 billion (USD9.71 million) projects to improve traffic in the city.

Under the proposal sent to the municipal People’s Council for consideration, VND59 billion will be invested into a project to install more cameras at spots which often face traffic congestion and accidents.

It is aimed to detect traffic violations and handle complex situations, enhancing the efficiency of urban traffic management.

Meanwhile, the VND179-million project will focus on installing an intelligent automatic traffic signal system.

The two projects will be carried out in the 2024-2025 period, using the city’s budget.

HCM City now has 24 traffic jam hotspots, including Nguyen Tat Thanh Street in District 4, the Dinh Bo Linh-Bach Dang Intersection in Binh Thanh District, and Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Road in Binh Thanh District.
