Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Tu Quynh, told Dantri/DTiNews early Wednesday morning that the accident occurred in Que Vo District at 10.30pm when a passenger bus of Ka Long Company was on its way from Thai Nguyen Province to Quang Ninh Province.
"I rushed to the site shortly after hearing about the accident to direct the rescue work,"' Quynh said. "Two people had been killed in the accident while dozens other had slight injuries."
According to a victim, Nong Duc Thuong, who is being treated at Bac Ninh General Hospital, he and some other passengers noticed a burnt smell shortly before the explosion.
At that time many passengers were sleeping. A young man and I and were lying on the second floor playing video game at the end of the bus. Suddenly we heard a loud explosion which blew us to the head of the bus," Thuong recalled. "I had a small injury on my head while my hair got partly burnt. Luckily I and many other passengers managed to get out of the bus."

A doctor at Bac Ninh General Hospital, Ha Ba Chan, said that the 12 injured passengers have been in stable condition.
Police are investigating the accident. One of the two passengers killed in the accident has yet to be identified.
