The scene of the accident
The accident happened at 1 am on May 25 at a construction site at 2/9 Street in Hai Chau District while workers were on site. They were carrying out a pour on the second floor when the metal scaffold suddenly collapsed. Five workers were buried under over 40 square metres of fresh concrete.
Rescue services were called and the bodies of Nguyen Sau, 53, and Nguyen Thi Xinh, 49, were found at 5 am. Three other workers were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital.
The six-storey building project site has been cordoned off for inspection.
