Top weightlifter to compete at world championship in Turkey

Vietnam’s top weightlifter Hoang Anh Tuan will be taking part in the world championship in Turkey from September 15-27.

The Olympic silver medalist, who has been training in China, will fly home on September 12 and leave for the tournament two days later.

He will compete in the men’s 56kg category, while teammate Nguyen Thi Phuong Loan will contest in the women’s 69kg division to defend the Southeast Asian Games champion she won in Laos last December.

“Tuan’s biggest goal this year is to win a goal medal at November’s Asian Games in Guangzhou, China,” said Do Dinh Khang, head of the weightlifting department.
