Three people are found dead following the house fire in Hanoi on April 28.
At around 3.15 am, flames suddenly erupted from the second floor of the house, located deep within Alley 99 of Dinh Cong Ha Street, and quickly spread to the upper floors. At the time, four people were inside the house: a married couple, their child, and the husband's mother.
Upon discovering the fire, nearby residents raised the alarm and attempted to extinguish the flames using mini fire extinguishers but were unsuccessful. The intense heat shattered the windows on several floors, making it difficult to access the building.
Witnesses reported that neighbours in adjacent houses quickly evacuated and opened their windows to create escape routes for those trapped inside.
About ten minutes after the fire broke out, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department dispatched four fire engines and dozens of officers and firefighters to the scene. They were divided into two teams: one focused on extinguishing the fire from the outside, while the other, equipped with breathing apparatus and gas masks, entered the house to search for victims.
The wife was the first to be found and was promptly taken to hospital. By around 4.30 am, the fire was fully contained. Continuing their search, authorities discovered the bodies of the three remaining victims at approximately 4.40 am.
The house, with a floor area of about 40 square metres, was rented by the couple. The third floor had a balcony with an accessible emergency exit. As the family was involved in organising fairs, the house contained a large amount of flammable materials. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
