 A strong cold spell is forecasted to hit the northern region from January 28 and last through the Lunar New Year or Tet Holiday.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold spell will arrive from the night of January 28 with temperatures falling sharply to about 15 degrees Celsius.

The strong cold weather will last until February 6 which falls on the 6th of the first lunar month, the forecasting centre said.

At present, the northern region is seeing warm weather with temperatures lingering between 19 - 24 degrees Celsius in the coming two to three days. Mist and drizzle are likely to continue in the morning until January 27.
